Sharing is Caring

Remember my Mason Jar Memories Post? Well it has been so fun to see how many have pinned the idea, shared it on Facebook or have put it into use. Over at  Fishtail Cottage a Mason Jar Memory pops up in a little girls new bedroom. It turned out amazing!
Thank you Fishtail Cottage for featuring me.

Something I would love to share with you is my darling nine year old daughter's blog. Creative Colorings and Crafts. My daughter is not excited when she is asked by her teacher aka me to write a story. Okay she is not excited to even write one sentence. I had her start this blog in hopes that doing something fun and creative would inspire at least a like, if not a desire for writing. If you have children in your life this would be a fun blog to follow. Everything has been created by my nine year old. She is in most instances the photographer as well. I am her proof reader and at times her editor or adviser. But this blog is hers and she loves doing it.
May I also add as her teacher, having her do a blog covers many areas of education. Computer skills, art, writing, language, photography and design in several forms. She really has to be thinking. When she creates a project she now takes her blog into consideration. I love seeing a child's imagination in motion. Hope you are inspired in some way!

Homeschool Classroom Makeover

It is that time again... school! As many of you may remember our homeschool classroom has changed location for the fourth time, now to our family room. You can see more of that here.  So far I have loved it... the location that is, not how it looked. I have been busy making some changes. First here is just a bit of a reminder of what it changed from.

The chairs finally got to go outside for a day of pampering! Something I have been meaning to do for awhile! Armed with a can of black spray paint I gave them a make over we are all thankful for! They look so pretty now! Well as pretty as school chairs can look.
Here is a look around the room. Some more before and afters of the changes made.
I changed the lamp and this very bare boring wall turned into this...
The basket on the wall (far right) also had a date with the spray paint.
With help from my happy helpers. The Golden Retriever is my wonder dog named Dexter and the Sheltie belongs to Mandy at Mandipidy.
Hanging right next to the chalk board on the right is this mason jar. It used to house spaghetti sauce and now will be the home to chalk... maybe flowers! Or as a good friend suggested maybe it's contents will change with the seasons. I used a curtain rod hook and picture hanging wire to hang it on the wall. I simply put it around the bottle as you would if you were going to tie a bow. Instead of a bow I just kept wrapping it around the jar and then took the ends and wrapped them tight around the hook. It was that simple. Now more of the room.
I love having a place for my kiddos to read books! I change out the books in the basket, especially since kids tend to pick the same book over and over again... until "yes we have that one memorized honey!"

Come back for my next post... I will be showing you the fun thing I did with my gallery wall! I am  so excited and I just know you will be too! :)

Mason Jar Memories

Capturing memories in mason jars... how fun is this? Thinking my idea for photos in mason jars was just genius, I decided to Google to see if this genius idea was already thought up by someone else. It was! Okay so I may not be as original as I thought! Too funny! But as my sweet husband told me, "it was still your idea... until you found out it was someone elses." Thanks for not re-bursting my bubble honey!
I found these turquoise mason jars at an antique store and I just fell in love! I have been wanting to redo my downstairs bathroom with a mason jar theme for quite awhile now. Though the bathroom is not yet started my inspiration has my imagination soaring. I decided to go with a beachy theme to my photos, being that I am a California girl living in the mountains. Needless to say... missing the ocean. So with out much further ado enjoy!
 All prints are 4x6.
I just can't wait until I begin working on the bathroom!

I am linking up to these parties

Mason Jar Love

I confess I love mason jars! I don't know why, but I just love those glass bottles! I have different ideas of how I want to use them (yes I actually spend time thinking about mason jars) but here are ways I have already put some to use around my home.
Holding money is a great use. Separating the money by coin with the purpose of teaching my kids about the different coins and their worth. We are saving our "pennies" for family fun. My girls love contributing to the growing coin jars! When they find coins while we are out and about they can not wait to get home to drop them in the jar. They also love to "find" coins in my room, usually on top of my dresser from daddy's pockets, and excitedly show me more coins to contribute to the jar. This is a great way to teach kids about saving money in a fun, family style way.
I left the top open for easy dropping!
How can I even express my love for these old turquoise jars? The two on the right look clear, but in reality they are just lighter than the one on the left. Gorgeous! They used to be filled with marbles, but I lost them. No not really... about them being filled with marbles... the other part is obviously true as evidence in this post!

Remember my button jar in my laundry room? It was a jar that held pasta sauce. When I realized Classico jars are mason jars, I morned the loss of all the ones I threw away. Just tossed in the trash like garbage.

Each of my girls have jars filled with shells, pebbles, rocks or stones. They found  these while at the beach or a fun day out enjoying nature and wanted to bring home a little memory from the day. I tied each jar with a different ribbon that coordinates to a frame I painted for each of them. My girls have loved this! Always makes me happy to see my children latch onto my simple ways of saying "you are special."
Well I will put a lid on it and say clearly I love mason jars!
